A Day of Travels

A Day of Travels

With our last morning in Singapore, my sister and I both had a list of things to do before leaving for the airport. After packing our suitcases and grabbing breakfast one last time at our hotel, we both went our separate ways. She left for Orchard to do some last minute shopping; I went out to meet Tammy for (my second) breakfast at Bugis.

Bugis

Tammy and I orginally planned to meet at Bugis Station. However, I ended up waiting for her underground by the ticket gate while she was waiting for me upstairs by the exit. LOL. After the slight confusion, we finally managed to meet outside of the Raffles Hospital and went inside Coffee Bean for breakfast. Tammy had a plate of pancakes which looked really yummy. I ended up only getting a drink for myself. Afterwards we walked around Bugis, then took the MRT over to Outram Park. I showed Tammy the area around my hotel and took her up to meet my sister. Then it was nearing time for us to get going, so I walked her downstairs and said goodbye. It was really great seeing her again. =)

Afterwards we checked out of the hotel, then flagged a taxi to take us to the airport. Once we dropped off our bags, we made our way over to the immigration counters. I somehow misplaced my immigration card. Luckily the immigration officers were extremely nice and helped me get through without a problem. (Side note: I did find the card – it was inside my jacket pocket. How embarrassing.) We still had a lot of time left, so we sat down at a restaurant and ordered our last plate of Hainanese chicken rice and our last bowl of laksa.

Once we finished eating, I made a surprising discovery – there’s a butterfly garden INSIDE the airport! However, it was raining pretty hard outside and because there’s no roof inside the garden, it turned into a wet and slippery walk.

Soon enough it was time to board our flight. The flying time was around 7 hours. I think my energy waned during the flight. I dozed off for a bit, then woke up and watched Ichimai no Hagaki during dinner. I wasn’t particularly hungry after eating three bowls of food at the airport, but at least I managed to eat the ice cream bar. =)

There was a lot of turbulence on the flight and we experienced delay during takeoff, so we were about an hour behind schedule. When we finally landed at Haneda it was close to midnight. My sister had checked the bus times before we left and we had pretty much missed all the available buses going to Shinjuku. We had no choice but to take a taxi as our last resort. However, we were really lucky because Singapore Airlines decided to compensate us for the ride. We saved nearly $100!! The only downside was waiting in line along with the rest of the passengers from our flight. It took about 30 minutes for us to get to the counter, then they had to explain to us how the voucher was suppose to work.

After getting everything sorted, we finally stepped out into the arrival lobby. We were warmly greeted by five tourism ambassadors. =P

I was super tired by the time I dragged my luggage to the taxi stand. I definitely wasn’t paying attention when I boarded the taxi, because I slammed my head on the side of the door. The first word that came out of my mouth in Japan was ‘Itai!’. I think the taxi driver had a good chuckle at my expense. We got to Shinjuku around 1:30am and headed straight to our room. After a long day of travels, it felt good to curl under the covers. =)

  1. Your outfit blended well with the five handsome ambassadors. ^-*

Your energy will surely be drained after that day’s turn of events. Good thing you didn’t hurt yourself other than the slight taxi accident.
