The next two days were spent entirely on the boat. I must say, for someone who’s out and about cramming in as much into her schedule as humanly possible, two days of ‘relaxation’ seemed almost unbearable. I don’t know how other people do it, but I was completely bored out of my mind on the ship.

On the first day I experienced some seasickness after waking up. I wasn’t exactly sick, but the ship was rocking quite a bit and I just remembered swaying along with it as I was having breakfast. Luckily I got used to the motion after a few hours, so it wasn’t bad at all. After that subsided, the hard part was trying to find stuff to do to occupy my time. I remember attending some fruit carving demonstration and an info session on how to trim your waistline. LOL. I think I actually participated in the scavenger hunt on the first day because I had absolutely nothing to do. Most activities catered to older adults, so I wasn’t actually the first in line for afternoon Bingo. =P

After surviving the first day on the ship, the second day seemed more promising because we would be cruising along Glacier Bay National Park. I had been looking forward to seeing the glaciers since the trip began, so I was really stoked as we headed closer into the park. The ship had also picked up a National Park Ranger, so she provided quite a bit of commentary throughout the journey.

One thing I did not like was the cold as we stood outside on the deck. Even though I had already dressed in layers, being outside for 30 minute stretches at a time was not fun at all. I was freeeeezing. There was quite a bit of draft as well since the ship was still moving, so everyone was trying to huddle closely to conserve heat.

The Park Ranger pointed out the islands as we passed by and also any wildlife she happened to see. I didn’t see anything, even though I was pointing my zoom lens at all the areas she had mentioned. (T_T)

I took quite a few photos of the glaciers we visited. One was the Hubbard Glacier and the other I remembered was the Margerie Glacier. Both were spectacular up close. There was a bit of fog in the morning, but the weather cleared up as the day went on. I think we were in the park from the morning till the late afternoon. I had to alternate from going outdoors to staying indoors because of the cold, but I did manage to see quite a bit throughout the day.

After leaving the park, I was back to my usual routine of finding stuff to do. I had already finished one book, so for that evening we decided to take in one of their shows. The dining and entertainment on the cruise were actually quite good, but nevertheless I was looking forward to finally stepping on land the next day. =)

    1. Oh man, there was soooo much food. I was pretty much counting down the hours till the next meal, because there wasn’t enough to keep me busy. =P
