Halifax

Halifax

Day 3 of our East Coast trip was our main travel day. We had to take a 5-hour bus ride from Charlottetown to our next destination – Halifax. Of course the only day you need to wake up at a certain time is when you naturally sleep through your alarm. Lol. Luckily we made it to the bus stop in plenty of time to catch our bus.

Once we got to Halifax it was already past lunch hour. The bus dropped us off at the Halifax Port Authority, which was about a 20 minute walk from downtown. Since it had started to drizzle, my sister and I quickly made our way to a nearby Thai restaurant for lunch.

After lunch, we continued making our way towards downtown Halifax. We since had our luggage with us, we first wanted to drop off our bags at our hotel. Little did we know, we booked a hotel up on Brunswick Street, which meant each time we returned we had to make a steep uphill climb towards the Citadel (which is the highest point in the city). I think I had to stop twice to catch my breath while wheeling my heavy luggage along. =P

Once we checked in and freshened up, we made our way down to the harbour to explore. Later that evening we took advantage of our ROM membership cards and visited the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia for free. I didn’t find the art gallery to be anything spectacular, but we did manage to spend an hour and a half inside.

Later that evening we had dinner at a pub called The Old Triangle. I had their Acadian gumbo and tried Bulwark craft cider for the first time. It was a warm end-of-summer evening, so we were able to enjoy sitting out on the patio. After dinner we decided to take a stroll inside Casino Nova Scotia (where I promptly lost $10 on slots), before finally calling it a night.
