Kiwi Park

We decided to get an early start for our last day in New Zealand. Once we finished packing, we left our luggage at the hotel then took the bus downtown. Our first official stop that day was to Kiwi Park, but since we got there early, we spent about 30 minutes wandering around the downtown core, taking photos by the waterfront.

Just before 9:30am, we joined the line outside of Kiwi Park and made our way inside. I bought our tickets in advance, which includes the conservation show. We took a map and soon started exploring the park. Our first stop was to see the kiwis — I had no idea that kiwis are nocturnal, so it was very dark when we went inside the houses. While they were hard to see, they were super cute scurrying around their enclosure. The park itself wasn’t very big, but we took our time walking through all the exhibits before we made our way to the conservation show at 11:30am.

Once the show was over, I quickly headed back downtown to get in line at Fergburger to place an order for lunch. Ferburger is apparently the place to eat in Queenstown, cause there’s lineups no matter what time of day. It took about 10 minutes to place my order, then another 20 minutes before our food was ready. With the burger being our only local meal in Queenstown, it definitely didn’t disappoint.

Afterwards it was back to the hotel to collect our luggage, then the bus to the airport. We arrived around 2pm and waited for a bit before boarding our afternoon flight back to Sydney. Overall I really liked the feel of Queenstown — it was quiet and scenic, but three days in the city was the perfect amount of time to get a taste of it. I would definitely love to go back to New Zealand to explore more cities in the future!
