Sydney
We finally made it to Sydney for our second day in Australia. We started off with breakfast at home, then my uncle suggested we take the ferry into the city via Paramatta. Sydney has such a large public transportation network and throughout my week I took everything from the bus, train, light rail to ferry. As it was a nice day out, we decided to take our time and venture by ferry to see more of the surrounding areas along the waterfront.
Once we got off at Paramatta Station, it was a 10-minute walk towards the ferry terminal. What I didn’t realize was that the ferries wouldn’t be running at Paramatta that day due to the low tide. We ended up taking a replacement bus to the next terminal, where we then caught the ferry all the way to Circular Quay. It took a bit over an hour to make it into the city, stopping multiple times along the way. While it was super exciting catching my first glimpse of the Opera House and Harbour Bridge from the ferry, I think I had enough of it for the rest of my time in Sydney lol.

Since it was nearing lunch time, we first grabbed a bite to eat at Eastbank. Their fish and chips and scallop entree were both fantastic. Later we took a short walk around the exterior of the Opera House and did a loop of the Botanical Gardens. As it was still early in the afternoon, we decided to take a bus to Bondi Beach for our next stop.

Bondi Beach was quite stunning in person. There were a lot of people out since it was the weekend, but because it was windy and cold that day, not a lot of people were actually in the water. There were a handful of people surfing, but I don’t know how they did it, cause I already gave up walking on the beach after getting sand in my face. =S

After leaving the beach we took the bus back to Bondi Junction, then transferred over to Town Hall, where we walked over to Chinatown. I spied a LeTao store along the way and ended up getting ice cream with a slice of cheesecake. In Chinatown we also got meat skewers which were amazing as well. The food scene in Sydney is crazy — there were so many stores to choose from and so much variety. It’s honestly better than what we have in Toronto. I would have kept eating if not for the fact that my uncle was waiting at home with dinner for us later that evening. After spending an hour in Chinatown, we called it a day and walked over to Central Station to take the train back home.
