Helsinki – Part 2
For our second day in Helsinki we left the apartment around 9am and made our way towards Market Square, where we would be catching the ferry to Suomenlinna. The Swedes started building Suomenlinna sea fortress back in 1748 to protect them against the Russians. It was surrendered to Russia during the Finnish War and was only returned to Finland after they gained their independence in 1917.
