After a busy morning at the station, Yoko-san and I stopped for a quick bite to eat at a ramen restaurant, then we headed off towards Toyota, to visit none other than the Toyota Kaikan Exhibition Hall. Toyota is about a half an hour drive away from Kariya. I had been running on little sleep the past week, so with that paired against my uncanny ability to fall asleep in cars, I pretty much dozed off during the entire ride….
The day after our trip to Nara was our last full day in Kariya. It was somewhat bittersweet since I was already growing accustomed to life in Kariya. However, traveling on a group schedule was becoming quite tiring and I was looking forward to spending some time on my own following the homestay. With it being our last day, I knew had to pack in as much as I could, so Yoko-san and I started off early in the morning…
The day following Okazaki we had a more relaxed schedule as we were spending the entire day in Kariya. Early in the morning Yoko-san drove me over to Mississauga Park, where all the delegates were being dropped off. Yoko-san herself had the morning free, as did all the other host families. 翌日岡崎に行った。朝皆と一緒にバスに乗って、岡崎に出発した。最初は八町味噌に行った。先ず、皆と一緒に記念写真を撮った。そして、味噌の工場を見学した。見学をしてから、味噌汁を飲んでみた。味噌アイスも食べた。美味しかったけど、味は味噌じゃないと思う。(バニラ?) 八町味噌の後で大樹寺に行った。大樹寺は静かで、すいていた。ここでたくさん写真を撮った。 次のストップはランチだった。名鉄ニューグランドホテルでランチを食べた。レストランは階上だから、岡崎城が見えた。美味しい物を食べながら、皆と喋った。すごく楽しかった！ ランチの後で丸石醸造で見学をした。あの日は14日だから、「いし」という同じ意味です。お酒を少し飲んでみて、お土産を買った。 最後に行った場所は岡崎城です。丸石醸造を出る時、雨が降っていた。でも、岡崎城に着いた時、雨は雪に変わった。大きいスノーフレークが降っていて、ビックリした！寒かったから、速く岡崎城で見学をした。そして、三河武士のやかた家康館に行った。博物館で英理さんと会えた！雪が降っても、岡崎に来てくれた。ありがとうございます！^_^ その後刈谷に戻って、家でゆっくり休んだ。陽子さんが生け花を教えてくれた。とても難しかった！私の作品： レッスンの後で、しょういちさんと陽子さんとレストランに行って、夕食を食べた。私は味噌煮込みうどんを食べた。名古屋の有名な郷土料理です。味はちょっと濃かったけど、とても美味しかった。Another day spent in 愛知県！
I’m slowly getting back to regular posting. While my thoughts are still with everyone in Japan, we have to continue moving forward with our daily lives.
