The day after the Bahamas was an at sea day, so we had a bit of a lazy start. I briefly\u00a0checked out the salsa dance class in the morning, then headed upstairs to the gym to get my usual 5K in. I enjoyed some of the dishes afterwards at the Spa Cafe, but later went for a second lunch where they had the most amazing seafood soup. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dinner was at the Tuscan, where things took a 180 and I had the worst\u00a0carbonara I’ve ever had in my life. (Even the one I cooked for myself was nowhere near as bad.)\u00a0Luckily for me that was the only terrible meal I had during the entire cruise. We caught the first showing\u00a0of the evening performance, then headed to bed early\u00a0as we were due to arrive in Cozumel early the next morning.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our alarm rang at 6:30am the next day.\u00a0We grabbed breakfast upstairs, went back down to change, then made it out to the pier by 8:15am to meet with our tour group.\u00a0There were quite a few groups going on excursions that day, so it took a while to get organized. Finally we were loaded onto the bus with our guide David and our driver Miguel. We headed to our first stop that day, which was to the San Gervasio Mayan Ruins.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It was actually quite fascinating listening to the history behind the site as I\u00a0really knew nothing about how the Mayans lived and died on Cozumel. The site itself isn’t very big, but it was interesting seeing the buildings they were able to preserve, especially the altar.\u00a0We spent the majority of the morning at the site, then we had a quick stop at the Mayan Bee Sanctuary, where we were greeted by a shaman who offered to give us a cleanse<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our final stop that day was to the beach.\u00a0I should mention that there are\u00a0no power lines on that side of the island, so we were fully cut off during that time.\u00a0The beach at Cozumel was nowhere near as nice as the beaches at CocoCay. There was quite a lot of seaweed washed up, so\u00a0it seemed like a lot of people chose to stay out of the water. We ended up taking our time to enjoy lunch at the beach house instead,\u00a0and the steak fajitas I ordered were the best I’ve ever had.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Afterwards our bus took us back to the pier and we spent about 20 minutes browsing the shops nearby. Later we made it back to the ship and had dinner at the Normandie restaurant. I tried my luck at the casino that night and surprisingly won $5.21! (It was my birthday on May 21, so needless to say I was very happy with my newfound wealth<\/em>.)
