We got up early and headed downstairs for breakfast in the hotel lobby. The lobby at Marina Bay Sands connects all three towers together, so it was a long walk from Tower 3 (where we were staying) all the way over to Tower 1 for breakfast.

Most of the hotel guests ate breakfast at a restaurant called Rise, which had one of the largest buffet breakfasts I’ve ever been to. At $75 a person, it was also the heftiest on both my stomach and my wallet. Luckily the cost of breakfast was already included in our hotel package, so I wasn’t traumatized when I saw the bill. The extra walking distance turned out to be a good thing as well, since I ate waaay too much both mornings of our stay. =P

After breakfast we got our stuff for the day and headed out to Sentosa. Our first stop was to VivoCity to take the Sentosa Express over to the island. We got off at Imbiah Station and took pictures by the Merlion. It was really nice out in the morning, so we did a lot of walking around and eventually made it towards Beach Station.

Aside from all the beaches, there are lots of other tourist attractions in Sentosa. Some of the attractions include zip-lining, a flying trapeze, the luge, cycling rentals, a Segway® obstacle and other adventurous activities <s>meant to rip you off</s>. One of my friends recommended going on the Skyline Luge, so that was the one we went on.

We took the chairlift up the trail about 650 meters high. When we got to the top, we sat in these part-toboggan, part-go-cart vehicles that took us down. There were no real brakes on the luge. All we had were handles that allowed us to steer. The only way to slow down was to pull up on the handle bars. I was driving granny-style halfway down the hill until I got the hang of it. My sister was even worst than I was. By the time I made it to the bottom, returned the luge, dropped off the helmet, and pulled my camera out, she still hadn’t made it down the hill. LOL. Maybe if I had all that extra waiting time I should have read the sign behind her. Heehee.

It started to drizzle not long afterwards. We took one of the shuttles over to the aquarium just as it turned into a full-fledge downpour. We got lunch first at the restaurant towards the back. I had a plate of BBQ pork rice, while my sister had (yet another) plate of chicken rice. The rain didn’t seem like it was going to stop soon, so we took advantage of our time indoors and went around all the exhibits at Underwater World.

The main highlight at the front was a tank full of stingrays. It seemed more like a petting zoo than an aquarium. There were even machines to buy food to feed them! I found the experience a little creepy, especially since I just ate stingray the night before. Hehe.

In the lower level, visitors can tour through the main tank by walking along the aquarium’s 83-meter long travelator. The travelator is essentially a conveyor belt that loops around a tunnel at the bottom of the tank. It lets you to see all kinds of marine life swimming above you.

Afterwards, we walked over to Dolphin Lagoon to see their sea lion and dolphin shows. It was still raining as the shows were going on, so the trainers had to cut it short. I’m glad they didn’t cancel the show altogether. After the show we stopped by the gift shop before making our way out of the aquarium.

We were ready to head back to VivoCity after spending most of the day at Sentosa. But just as we exited the aquarium, I was momentarily sidetracked by the spa next door which offered –

Fish Reflexology!!

I’ve been wanting to try this for a long time! The experience was not as gross as I had expected. It was more ticklish if anything. We were told to place our heels in the pool first to get use to the ‘nibbling’ experience. However, it was a little scary seeing all the fish gravitate towards the dead skin on your feet. I ended up giggling like mad during the initial 5 minutes. I felt bad because there were people getting back massages off to the side, while I was going off like a lunatic. LOL.

After leaving the spa, we took the train back towards VivoCity. It was around 4pm, so we were on a hunt for an afternoon snack. Inside the food court there was a stall that sold pork bone soup, which tasted absolutely amazing. I was a little greedy, so I continued to munch on fresh papaya as we walked around the mall. Later on we took the subway over to Clarke Quay for the evening to grab dinner.

Clarke Quay was very pretty and colourful. If it wasn’t for the fact that it was a Monday night, I’m sure it would be have very lively as well. The restaurants looked a little empty, but we decided on trying a seafood restaurant for dinner. We ordered a seafood appetizer with fresh oysters, mussels, clams, and a selection of sashimi. Then we split a plate of grilled fish for our entree. Of course, it wouldn’t feel like the Singapore experience without drinking a glass of Singapore Sling. =)

We took some more nighttime shots of Singapore before calling it a night. There goes Day 2 of our Singapore excursion!

The next day was our tour of Sentosa.
