Sha Tin Racecourse

Sha Tin Racecourse

The night after visiting WKCD I ended up going to an AYCE hotpot restaurant where at the time, I didn’t realize I ate way too much, but definitely felt it during the middle of the night when I woke up at 3am wanting to throw up. It’s been three years since I’ve done any major traveling and I still haven’t learned to control my tendency to overeat while on vacation. (T__T)

The following day was wasted because I was too sick to get out of bed. Even though I had tickets to watch a theatre performance I had to forfeit them. Luckily I managed to resurrect myself the next morning. Although I had planned on chilling at home for my last full day in HK, something caught my eye on tv that morning and I made the decision to get myself out of the house. What might that be you may ask. Well, it was the Longines Hong Kong Cup at the Sha Tin Racecourse [or technically, the spokesperson for Longines haha].

Funny thing is, we actually had tickets to go to the racecourse which was purchased in advance, but without that extra boost from the tv, I would never have had enough energy to make it out of the house. After getting dressed it took about an hour to make it to the racecourse. We got our tickets scanned, received our complimentary Longines baseball cap, then made our way inside the stands.

There was actually quite a lot of people attending the race, especially since most of the restrictions were lifted. I hadn’t been to a racetrack in years and it was my first time inside Sha Tin, but I was pleasantly surprised by how big and clean it was. We did a couple loops inside then sat down and watched some of the races. I wasn’t interested in betting on anything, but it was nice to enjoy the atmosphere, especially when people were cheering on the horses as they crossed the finish line.

We stayed until the major races were over and I was happy I could see the spokesperson up close. It was definitely a surprise since I didn’t know he was even in HK, so I was thrilled to catch him in person for the first time since Taipei. <3
