Tokyo

Tokyo

I did a three week trip to Asia last month! It’s been a year and a half since I’ve been back to Japan, so I really crammed a lot in to make the most of my time. Aside from seeing friends and doing my obligatory shopping runs, I did manage to make a couple day trips out to go sightseeing as well.

The first few days I spent in Tokyo. I really didn’t venture to new places while I was there, but I definitely ate my way around! I was staying in Shirokane, which is one of the more upscale residential areas in Tokyo. I really enjoyed the neighbourhood and it was also super convenient travelling to other areas as well.

The night I arrived I went to a food stall for the first time! The space was tight and the atmosphere was super casual, but the food was really good! As we were eating, this guy in a suit approached our table and asked if we were interested in a magic show. I think it took us a few seconds to actually absorb what he was asking us. I don’t think either of us were expecting a magician to come up to our table!

Tokyo

I had really good shabu shabu the following night and amazing sushi for the next two nights. The first night of sushi we went to a really cheap restaurant chain called Midori Sushi near Yurakucho. We waited almost an hour outside the restaurant after first getting a ticket from the machine. It was definitely worth it cause it cost only 5,000 yen for two people!

I also had a lot of desserts during my time in Tokyo. One of the first places I went to was this dessert chain called Harbs. Harbs actually originated in Nagoya and I’ve walked past the store in Sakae many times without going inside. I finally had a chance to try their famous mille crepe, which was so good that I don’t have enough words to adequately describe it!

Another place I tried was this traditional dessert place called Ouca in Ebisu. I had amazing ice cream with sweet potato!

I don’t really have recollections of things I did aside from eating, so I guess all the touristy stuff I left for the latter part of my trip. =P
