Sayonara, Nagoya!

Sayonara, Nagoya!

For our last morning in Nagoya, we tried to fit in as much as we could before we left for the airport. After waking up around 7:15, we had breakfast at the hotel then ventured out to the station to buy last minute souvenirs. Afterwards, we were left with a little under two hours to finish the rest of our shopping.

Nagoya Station

As with all my trips to Asia, I never leave enough time to go shopping for clothes, so it’s always a rush to see what I can fit in last minute. I spent around 20 minutes wandering inside Takashimaya before I figured it was too expensive, so I beelined for Esca, which is the underground shopping mall inside Nagoya Station. Neither me nor my sister managed to do much damage in the time we were given, but at least we both came out with a couple bags of purchases. =D

Cutting through Nagoya Station on the way back, I managed to pick up some fresh tebasaki chicken wings, so we had a snack in the lobby before we finished packing. Afterwards it was off to the station to take the MyuSky to the airport. (I’ll leave out our side story of how we had to painstakingly drag all three suitcases plus our carry-on baggage to the station, but let’s just say it was not a pleasant experience. Lol.)

Once we finally made it to the airport, we checked in all our baggage then decided to go through security early, thinking to grab a bite to eat right after. I had totally forgotten that Centrair is completely the opposite of most airports being that all the shops & restaurants are located before the security gates. There’s absolutely nothing to eat once you get through. Lucky for us we found out that the security gives you a one time re-entry ticket, which actually is sort of a weird thing, considering you still have to go through the screening when you come back. However it was good enough since it allowed us to go back to the shops and restaurants.

For my last meal in Nagoya, I decided to have miso nishikomi udon. I think aside from tebasaki it’s my favourite dish from Nagoya. We ventured out to the Sky Deck for a little bit before we finally made our way back to the departure gates and took our flight to Narita.

Our flight to Narita was short. Once we arrived we had to take a bus to the terminal then go through security again. Since it was our last transit in Japan, we decided to grab one more washoku meal (ramen), then it was time to board our flight to Vancouver. There wasn’t too much after we landed in YVR. We had to pick up our luggage once we got there and luckily passed through customs without any incident. Then we had another smooth flight to Toronto.

Overall this trip to Asia was probably one of my most extensively planned trips. I don’t even know how I managed to fit in so much during the two weeks I was there, but I’m really thankful that I got to meet so many people. Definite highlights include seeing Eddie in TPE, traveling for the first time with Y & J, making it out to Kariya after 3 years and of course seeing Arashi in concert. I’m super grateful that so many friends made time to see me. Until next time Asia!
